Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad

Born on 7 November 1967 in Batu Pahat, Johor, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad was appointed as the Minister of Higher Education Malaysia on 10 March 2020. She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Double Major in Quantitative Analysis and Finance) from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada in 1991, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR) in 2005. She subsequently obtained her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Development Management at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in 2018.

Her career in politics began in 2001, throughout which she steadily held the positions as Secretary of Pro Tem United Malays National Organization (UMNO) Women Youth Wing and Head of UMNO Women Youth Wing from 2004 to 2009. Presently, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad is the Chairperson of the UMNO Women’s Wing (Wanita UMNO).

Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad was elected to the Malaysian Parliament in 2008 and was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Human Resources, while simultaneously leading several federal agencies including the Malaysian Network Information Centre and Astronautic Technology.

Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad has also held other positions such as the Chairperson of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) from 2013 to 2018. Her credentials are internationally acknowledged and she was the first Malaysian elected as the Chairman of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) from 2016 to 2019.
