Dr. Liu Qingfeng, founder and CEO of iFLYTEK, director of the National Speech & Language Information Processing Laboratory, adjunct professor and doctoral advisor of USTC, deputy to the National People’s Congress for the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th sessions, director-general of the National Alliance for University Students Innovations & Entrepreneurship, director-general of the National Alliance for Speech Industry.
Qingfeng was admitted to USTC in 1990 and made key technological innovations in area of speech synthesis during school years. In 1999 as a 26-year-old doctorate candidate he founded iFLYTEK with a dozen of his schoolmates. iFLYTEK went public on Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2008, becoming the very first public company founded by still-enrolled college student entrepreneurs in China.
For over 20 years, Dr. Liu Qingfeng has stood by the vision of “let machines listen and speak, understand and think”, and led iFLYTEK in achieving outstanding results in the research and industrialization of speech and artificial intelligence core technologies. Through head-to-head competitions the company has successfully recovered the Chinese speech market which was monopolized by oversea IT giants, now it owns 80% of the domestic market share.
In recognitions of its exceptional achievements in technological innovations and industrial contributions, iFLYTEK was titled “2017 CCTV Top 10 Public Company”. Dr. Liu Qingfeng was awarded the 14th “China Economic Person of the Year” in 2013, “CBN's China Business Leader” in 2015, “Top Ten Economic Person of the Year” in 2017 and “Top 100 Private Entrepreneurs in the 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up” in 2019.
