The National Education Congress in September 2018 marked China’s resolution to accelerate the modernization of education, build a powerful country of education, and develop education that meet people’s needs. It has also opened a new chapter of international cooperation and exchange in education in the new era. This year, we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China. Looking back at the past 70 years, the Chinese people have made remarkable achievements in education. China has established the largest educational system in the world. Education popularization at all levels has reached or exceeded the average level of middle and high-income countries with the overall level of education development ranking above the middle of the world.
At this important timing, China's first strategic plan for education modernization, China's Educational Modernization 2035, was officially released, depicting a long-term blueprint for China's educational development towards goals by the year 2035, and putting forward clear objectives for the construction of a new opening up pattern for education to the outside world. In order to realize education modernization by 2035, we will base ourselves in China's national conditions, and draw on the successful experience of other countries. We would like to work with all parties to learn from each other, make collective efforts to achieve mutual development.
As China has increasingly integrated itself in economic globalization, education internationalization in China is advancing at a large scale and at a high speed through various educational opening-up undertakings, such as two-way study abroad, joint school programs, promotion of Chinese language learning, scientific research cooperation and people-to-people exchanges. The new pattern of comprehensive opening-up of education in China featuring Belt and Road Initiative has taken into form. As China’s first national non-governmental organization that promotes international exchanges and cooperation in the field of education after China’s reform and opening up, China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) has undergone both trials and hardships with China's educational reform and development. We always take the responsibility of implementing international education exchanges and cooperation policies and leading educators to serve China's educational reform.
Since its inception in 2000, China Annual Conference for International Education & Expo (CACIE) has been focusing on the development of education in China and the outside world, expanding its scale and increasing its influence year by year. It has become an important bridge for Chinese and foreign educators to exchange ideas and pool wisdom, an important window to grasp the latest trends and learn about the latest achievements, as well as an important platform for sharing information and seeking cooperation. In this golden autumn season, international educators from all over the world will gather together in Beijing once again to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of CACIE. Under the theme of "Education 2035: A Dialogue with the Future of the World", I hope that we will make in-depth discussions and brainstorm on topics of common concern, share the achievements and experiences of educational development in various countries, and jointly draw a good blueprint for the development of international education in the future.
We are willing to work together with people in the world to promote cooperation through exchanges, gain mutual benefits through cooperation. We believe that by pooling the wisdom of world educators, we are bound to make new and greater contributions to the realization of global prosperity and build a community with a shared future for mankind.
